garlic and multiplir onion planted

hi everyone ,
well apparently what i planted was soft neck garlic,,,multiplier onion and hard neck garlic in that order down the row. i hope i did it right approx 6 in down.Ive been doing alot of reading and read about covering the garlic for the winter with mulch or hay. I covered it with salt hay form the marsh, i am trying to be thrifty so i hope it will be ok i also did that with the multiplier onion, the other thing i did was sprinkle some bone meal around the onion, ive never seen bone meal or used it so we will see what happens....i talked to a neighbor who said she never has sone that but everyone is different, well for me im just doing what i read. i welcome any suggestion
